Wetherspoon's pubs launch new gin festival in Edinburgh

Wetherspoon's pubs in and around Edinburgh are offering a selection of gins from across Britain to customers during a new 18-day festival.

The festival will offer up to 15 gins and gin liqueurs not previously available in the pubs and will run from today (Thursday 14 February) until Sunday 3 March.

Participating pubs include The Standing Order and The Alexander Graham Bell on  George Street; The Playfair in Omni Centre; The Booking Office in Waverley Bridge; The Caley Picture House in Lothian Road; The White Lady in St John’s Road, Corstorphine; The Foot of the Walk in Constitution Street, Leith; and The Blacksmith’s Forge in Newmills Road, Dalkeith.

The gins will range in price from £2.60 to £5.05 (single measure) and including the usual selection of gins on offer in each bar will also feature gins specially selected for the event such as Aber Falls Orange Marmalade Gin, Adnams Copper House Pink Gin, Didsbury Gin Raspberry & Elderflower, Eden Mill Love Gin Liqueur, Greenal's Wild Berry Gin and The Lakes Damson Gin Liqueur.

All of the gins will be served in a popular Copa de Balon glass, and will include a free mixer. Tasting notes on all of the gins plus guidance on the best mixers for each gin will be available in the pubs.

The Standing Order manager, Jaikrishnan Vamalachandran, said: "The festival will showcase some wonderful gins from across Britain.

"They have not previously been available in the pub and I am sure that our customers will enjoy drinking them."
