On Wednesday 16th November, the Love Scotch Malt Shop & Cocktail Counter, the brainchild of Kained Holdings Marketing Manager, James Kemp and Diageo Scotch Whisky Ambassador Ervin Trykowski, will open up in The Riverhill Restaurant on West Nile Street.

The pop-up will be open Wednesday to Sunday, 4pm until midnight, right up until the day before Christmas Eve.

Kemp, Former Head Bartender at The Finnieston, outlined their reasons for opening the Pop-Up, saying: "Erv and I have worked together for over five years now in lots of different capacities, and we both see Scotch Whisky as an outstandingly diverse spirit category, suited to be enjoyed in many different ways.

"We’re sure we’ll get into plenty of debate while we’re open, but at the end of the day, we all have the same goal: helping to grow Scotch and its popularity at home in any small way we can.

Whilst Trykowski shares his enthusiasm: “This is going to be as far from a traditional whisky bar as you can possibly imagine. Our goal is to make whisky fun and bring it to a wider audience. In the Pop up you will see drinks using the

"In the pop-up you will see drinks being made using the most modern techniques, Djs playing non-Scottish music and people hopefully having an amazing time."

Whisky lovers can expect some pretty interesting cocktails showing off the diversity of the category, whisky serves, bar bites (including bugs 'n' barley) as well as a new way of categorising whisky - colour-coding the whiskies depending on characteristics rather than region.

The pair say around 40 whiskies will be available with mixers, straight and by the bottle, to take home as a perfect Christmas Gift.
