The Absent Ear pays homage to Vincent van Gogh through his most famous missing extremity and is a clever nod to its secret location.

Rhuaridh Paul is heading up the team, which includes the duo behind popular speakeasy pop-up Wheesht, along with a class selection of bartenders from across the city, and further afield.

Guests should expect “flamboyant cocktails with a theatrical presentation” when visiting the Absent Ear.

Some of these have been posted on social media to give a glimpse of what to expect when the bar opens.

This has been delayed while Glasgow remains in level three.

Jamie Moran and Dave Salvadord Ali of Wheesht announced their new move on Instagram, saying: "Now, we know some of you have been wondering about the future of Wheesht, and you will be devastated to learn, Wheesht has passed on.

"It is no more. Ceased to be. Expired and gone to meet its maker. We are acutely aware this leaves a speakeasy sized hole in your lives that must be filled in some way or another, and so we have some big news to soothe your pining.

"Whilst it’s not our venture, the Wheesht team are involved in Glasgow’s newest and hopefully most exciting bar opening post-Covid. The Absent Ear… follow on Instagram @theabsentear and Facebook to find out more.

"Thanks for all your love and support throughout Wheesht’s tenure as Glasgow’s speakeasy. We miss you but will hopefully see you soon. Wheesht."
