New Edinburgh whisky tasting experience puts spotlight on local bands

A new whisky tasting night in Scotland’s capital is set to feature not only delicious whiskies but also some of the best live music the city has to offer.

Felipe Schrieberg, founder of Whisky Business, whisky blogger for Forbes.com, and lead singer of Edinburgh-based band The Blueswater, is set to launch a uniquely exciting new whisky tasting experience in the capital.

The Rhythm n’ Booze Whisky Club will be a bi-monthly event, held at former church venue the Assembly Roxy, that looks to blend the best live music from local bands with amazing whiskies.

The inaugural tasting will feature blues trio Jed Potts and the Hillman Hunters. Regular fixtures at the Edinburgh Jazz and Blues Festival as well as festivals all around Scotland, the band draws from the rich well of classic 50’s and 60’s American blues.

Schrieberg will lead guests through an interactive evening, featuring five specially selected whiskies and fun experiments which will engage their senses in new and unexpected ways. Schrieberg said: "We don’t just want to serve great whisky, but also bring deserved attention to the excellent bands that are based in Edinburgh, and Jed is a truly superb guitarist."

"Our aim is to create an innovative and delicious whisky tasting experience, with help from the city’s best musicians."

With limited seats available, tickets for the first night for this new tasting series, which takes place on May 4th, with doors opening at 19:00, cost just £25 (plus booking fee) and are available here
