The Malt Whisky Trail (MWT) links nine iconic whisky locations in Moray Speyside, an area with the largest concentration of whisky distilleries in the world.
This year, the company behind this exciting tour is offering a range of experiences that are the perfect gift inspiration for those stuck on ideas of what to get their loved ones.
A spokesperson for the MWT, who stated that there were tours and tastings to suit all budgets, said: "Why not treat your loved one to the ultimate Scotch experience this Christmas, with a visit to malt whisky country to meet the craftspeople who make the whiskies you love."
During this fun experience you will discover the world of Chivas Regal, the world’s "first luxury whisky". You will begin by touring Strathisla distillery in Keith to discover how the single malt at the heart of Chivas Regal is made.
You will then have the opportunity to taste some special drams and the opportunity to create your own blend in the style of Chivas Regal and you will be able to take away a small bottle of it to let your friends try it.
Home to the World-famous Johnny Walker blend, Cardhu Distillery nestles in a picturesque setting in the heart of Speyside.
The only distillery started by a woman, Cardhu has a unique history.
This in-depth guided tour of the distillery is followed by a tutored nosing and tasting of the Cardhu range and a complimentary Glencairn glass.
On this in-depth tour you'll learn about founder George Smith, and discover how this brand became so popular around the world.
You'll also get a sample of their new make spirit followed by a selection from their range of other whiskies to help you understand the marriage of the spirit and the wood in creating the final whisky from this hugely popular distillery.
Situated in the whisky town of Dufftown, the Glenfiddich Distillery is home to the world’s most-awarded single malt. The distillery was founded in 1886 by William Grant and is currently run by the fifth generation of his family.
Distillery tours start at just £10, but this half-day visit offers something a little more special. You’ll visit a number of malt warehouses including warehouse number 12, home to the Malt Master’s Selection. Here, you will be invited to fill a 20cl bottle from the cask of your choice.
The experience will conclude with a tutored masterclass of a selection of five of Glenfiddich’s finest whiskies along with delicious canapés prepared by the distillery head chef.
