The Scottish soft drinks giants announced the launch of their first new core product in 35 years, Irn-Bru XTRA, in July and suggested a release date of "sometime in August".
Well it seems they've kept their word and have given a soft launch to the new product, as it's now available in selected Sainsbury's stores across Scotland.
A user on Reddit's /r/Scotland page generated excitement on Thursday (18th August) amongst other users when he posted that he'd managed to buy some in his local Sainsbury's.
Another user who also manage to get their hands on some also posted saying: "Had a 2L tonight whilst playing some games with mates. It's braw, pretty close to the real thing and no as watery as the diet stuff. Sticky, thick sweetness."

The supermarket giant are selling the new product in 330ml cans (60p each), 500ml bottles (£1.15) and 2 litre bottles (£1 while stocks last).
Irn-Bru XTRA will be the first permanent new product from Irn-Bru in 35 years and is described as being “full of extra taste” but with “no sugar”.
In production for over a year, makers Barrs say that it has been created using the distinctive Bru recipe but is “excitingly new and refreshing”.
Adrian Troy, AG Barr Head of Marketing, comments: “It’s clear that the market is changing and consumers want more choice. We’ve listened to this and have worked incredibly hard to not only develop Irn-Bru XTRA, but to make it available to buy this summer.”

“As a brand, strength and resilience is at the heart of everything we do and Irn-Bru XTRA is a total knockout. With the Irn-Bru secret recipe at its core, it delivers extra taste and no sugar. We’re confident it will be just the tonic for those that are keen to try something new and enjoy the bold Irn-Bru taste they love, without any sugar.”
The Scotsman staff were lucky enough to have received a few cans of the new product and we can confirm that it went down very well, with the consensus being that it was extremely enjoyable and would be perfect for those looking for a ‘no sugar’ alternative to Scotland’s other national drink.
