Scottish drinks company with award-winning gin to close down

The owners of an award-winning Scottish drinks company have announced it’ll cease trading.

A Scottish drinks company that started life in a garden shed has been closed down. The Garden Shed Drinks Company, which was established in Glasgow in 2017 by friends and rugby players Ryan Grant and Ruaridh Jackson.

Now the owners have decided to call it a day, and made the announcement via the brand’s social media. They wrote: “Join us in raising a glass! We’ve been lucky enough to have our little gin business for over 7 years but the time has come to bid farewell.

“It was fun while it lasted and when we look back we realise just how far we’ve come. I think we can look back with pride at all the amazing things we’ve achieved.

“From an idea that started in a garden shed to creating multi-award winning spirits which were exported to over 25 countries around the world and collaborating with some of Scotland's best hotels and Michelin starred restaurants, all whilst doing our bit for the environment!

“We still have some stock available but once it’s gone we wont be producing anymore so now’s your chance to get your last bottle of Garden Shed Gin before it’s gone for ever!”

The company produces aged gin, original Garden Shed gin, and a flavoured gin and have won awards including a silver medal at the World Spirits Awards as well as being shortlisted for the Scottish Gin Awards.

The concept behind the Garden Shed Drinks Company was to create gin with botanicals found in the area and the garden including brambles and dandelions that most gardeners seek to get rid of.

The company was also known for giving back to nature and supporting charities such as the Bumblebee Conservation Trust and Trees4Scotland.
