Fife businesses team up for virtual whisky and food pairings

Fife business owners have come together to offer a whisky and food tasting virtual experience, starting this month.

Two companies based in Aberdour in Fife have teamed up to provide a virtual whisky and food tasting experience to whisky fans across the UK.

The idea came from Aberdour locals and business owners Amanda Braid, Pamela Phillips - owners of Post and Pantry - and Mitch Bechard, owner of CopperCairn.

How it works

In November and December, Post and Pantry will be offering whisky and food hampers online that can be shipped anywhere in the UK.

Upon purchase customers select a date to attend an online interactive tasting experience hosted by whisky professional, Mitch Bechard.

There will be five dates to choose from, spread over November and December, with a maximum of 15 people in each experience.

The hampers are made for two people to enjoy and contain 3 x 50ml of Scotch whisky, a selection of hand picked local food pairings to complement the whisky, a can of Larkfire Scottish water and an invitation to enjoy it all virtually in the comfort of your home.

"With everyone looking to source and support local companies in this current climate, working with Post and Pantry is a perfect partnership as it doesn’t get more local for me," said Mitch.

"The concept is to provide people with a fun and educational virtual experience in the comfort of their own home."

Pamela and Amanda added: "We are so pleased to be working with Mitch to create this fantastic whisky tasting hamper.

"It's a great opportunity for us to showcase our wide variety of tasty artisan products and, with the recent launch of our retail website, it's the perfect time to introduce new customers to our offering."

Post and Pantry was formed by Amanda and Pamela from their mutual love for delicious food, baking, farm shops and delis.

Their personal goal was to create a work/life balance that suited their families while flexing their foodie creativity, and their professional goal was to create a fun and inviting shop that offered something different to the locals while supporting local artisanal products.

The online offering of hampers and experiences is the next chapter in their successful shop.

CopperCairn was founded by Mitch Bechard from his passion of Scotland and its whisky. With 15 years’ experience within the Scotch whisky industry he has worked for some of the largest brands in the world, including the likes of Johnnie Walker and Glenfiddich.

These roles have taken him around the world educating and entertaining thousands of people. He has hosted training sessions, judged on international tasting panels and written articles on whisky.

He is also a Keeper of the Quaich, an honour bestowed on a select number of people for their contribution to the whisky industry.
