The Hair of the Dog event was announced on the spirit merchant's Twitter page: "Although dogs are always welcome in our shops, this will be the first time that we've ever invited them along to an event.

"We're putting on a relaxed afternoon tasting featuring six spirits chosen from the vast range on our shelves at 23 Bath Street.

"No spirits for the dogs, alas, but there will be complimentary dog biscuits and water."
