As Sam Heughan gets ready to launch his whisky fellow Outlander star Caitriona Balfe teases her new Scottish gin

As Sam Heughan gets ready to launch his whisky, fellow Outlander star Caitriona Balfe has teased the release of a new Scottish gin.

With the Scottish actor announcing the arrival of his The Sassenach whisky in the US, Balfe - who plays Sam's on-screen love interest Claire - posted an intriguing hint on social media that she could soon follow suit with a spirit of her own.

Writing on her official Twitter and Instagram accounts, the Irish actor posted: "It’s all about to be gin."

Accompanied with the hashtags #ForgetMeNot and #Staytuned, the post refers to the reported £400 million cuts to arts spending in the UK, prompting speculation that the gin could be being produced in a bid to raise funds for the sector.

One user responded: "If this is a gin, with some proceeds going to arts culture AND it’s available in the U.K. I am SO all over it Caitríona."

While another added: "If this is a gin where my money is going towards the arts, SIGN ME UP."

With over 1,500 likes on Twitter and nearly 27,000 on Instagram it appears the model and actor will have plenty of interest when her new product hits the market.

Meanwhile, the whisky named after Caitríona's character in the show is ready to hit the market in five US states following a successful trial.
