With many of us using our time at home to learn new skills or get creative in the kitchen, Aldi has joined a number of retailers offering virtual wine tasting.
Wine fans are invited to join Aldi’s wine expert Sam Caporn MW, who will be hosting a wine masterclass live on Aldi’s Facebook on Friday 17th April at 5pm.
Sam will talk through the basics of tasting, leaving you clued up on various notes, flavours and best food pairings for a selection of different delicious wines.
Attendees are asked to get comfortable, grab a bottle (a fizz, a white, a red or a rosé wine- it’s up to you) and get ready to sip back and relax.
Taken from Aldi’s free online wine course Aldiploma, budding wine connoisseurs can go on to learn all about the much-loved drink from the basics to the finer detail on the dedicated website.
Whether you want to know your Crémant from your Cava, or simply the best wine to pair with your steak, the supermarket has removed the snobbery from traditional wine tasting with its jargon-free course, to make this the ultimate educational tool for pressure-free learning.
Split into six modules, Aldiploma is the first of its type and covers a wide range of topics, including the principles of wine tasting and understanding different grape varieties. What’s more, the course won’t cost you a thing.
Sam Caporn MW, comments: “As one of only 395 Masters of Wine worldwide, it’s fair to say I know my Malbec from my Merlot – but that hasn’t always been the case.
"Rewind twenty years and I was just a wine loving consumer with none of the technical knowledge I have now.
"I’m thrilled to have worked with Aldi to create this course and look forward to sharing my tips live, this Friday, which not only encourages consumers to try new things but also gives them the perfect introduction to the wonderful world of wine.”
The course is available to download or watch for free or get a taster on Aldi’s Facebook this Friday at 5pm.
