West Lothian based tour company, Mary’s Meanders run by Emma Chalmers and Anne Daly has once again taken the buzz and excitement around the 'Outlander' TV series and developed a new evening dinner show for local people, visitors and 'Outlander' fans alike, launching this Spring to coincide with the season 2 premiere.
Teaming up with the Torphichen Inn, a 16th century hostelry nestled in the small village of Torphichen in the Bathgate Hills, the dinner and show replicate the foodie and ceilidh experience of the highly acclaimed Diana Gabaldon’s 'Outlander' book and TV series.
Emma Chalmers, Founder, Mary’s Meanders said: "Our 'Outlander' themed film location tours and 'A Taste of Outlander' show were such a great success last year and now we are looking to add to our tourism portfolio to match the growing demand for experiences linked to the series. We are now expanding our venture to the atmospheric Torphichen Inn that has all the sense of ancestral mystery our guests could wish for.”
Emma added: “The old coaching inn itself dates back to the 16th century and promotes an historic backdrop for visitors to immerse themselves in the world of 'Outlander'. The evening includes a range of music and traditional songs by West Lothian band Boorach, traditional Scottish dancers as well as readings from the Diana Gabaldon books. As an extra flourish, each dish is served with an explanation of its relevance to the series such as the Scotch broth served to Jamie and Claire at Castle Leoch."
One reviewer, already impressed by the event, posted this on the Mary's Meanders website: “The Outlander themed dinner show is exactly that; entertainment is served in portions as generous as the food, interspersing the evening with infectious bursts of music, song and dance which pay tribute to the Outlander phenomenon and it’s romantic setting in the Scottish Highlands”
• The show runs Sunday through to Thursday with alternative days available on request. Minimum booking numbers of 20, maximum 160. Filming location tours also available.
