Posting to his Instagram stories, Sam Heughan, wrote on a shot of the dinner that the Home by Nico meal was "so good" before the funny video.
In it the star who dressed in a white t shirt and black jacket is sitting enjoying the meal with a glass of wine, says: "Six by Nico, romantic dinner for two and I'm glad it's with you."
To which the camera cuts to Sam across the table, dressed in a black top and leather jacket and eating one of the dishes. He replies: "Oh yeah...cheers."
Home by Nico, from the team behind Six by Nico, launched as a response to the lockdown in April 2020.
The idea was that the ‘ever-evolving experimental experience’ will take diners on a culinary journey similar to the restaurants changing tasting menu with a cook at home four course meal.
Themes have included a world tour with: a Greek experience, French Riviera, Chinese fusion and Mexican Fiesta – with menus selling out in minutes for delivery in Glasgow and Edinburgh.
The current Home by Nico menu is Tuscany and includes dishes such as Ribollta with salsa al dragoncello, Pork rosticciana and hazelnut bomboloni and there are still slots available to book if you want to enjoy the same romantic meal as Sam Heughan.
Home by Nico is now part of the Home-X range, which recently added a Sunday roast and lobster offering to the collection that includes a seasonal eight course vegan feast, Chateaubriand, cheese and a wine club.
Sam Heughan was a guest on our podcast Scran late last year where he told us all about his whisky, The Sassenach, why he chose a blend over a single malt, how it was almost made in America and his favourite foods and drams.
Outlander fans will know that his whisky is named for his on-screen wife Claire, who Sam’s character affectionately calls Sassenach.
Sam explains why this name works well for the blended malt, saying: “Jamie uses it (in Outlander) as a term of endearment and that’s what we wanted to do with the whisky.
“We want it to be for the outsider, for people that don’t know about whisky, or ones that want to access whisky and need somewhere to start. The name fits really well with the brand.”
