The MP for Westmorland and Lonsdale made the statement in a reply to a post by writer Stephen Graham, who was asking for politicians to stop pouring pints in photoshoots after MP John Nicolson was snapped pouring what was described by one social media user as "the worst pint ever poured in the history of pint pouring."
am late to this, the worst pint ever poured in the history of pint pouring https://t.co/xnwuZc0pd2

After misspelling the brand as "Tenants" and describing it as "awful", he said that it deserves to be poured badly, adding that Mr Nicolson should be enjoying a Scottish real ale instead.
Tenants is awful, it deserves pouring badly! Just think of all the lovely Scottish real ales he could have had instead!

After another user responded with the correct spelling for the brand and stating that the famous lager was "the only good thing about living in Scotland", Mr Farron bizarrely responded: "Oops sorry! Hmm.. I assume you smoke 40 a day and that everything tastes the same."
Tennent's fans weren't happy, with one hitting back: "If you weren't finished already you are now. Tennents is nectar from the gods."
The whole exchange was sparked by Mr Nicolson's own post in which he described his terrible attempts to pour a pint of Tennent's as "Tennent's cappuccinos".
The SNP MP tweeted: "It was great to welcome my constituent Jay Fraser to parliament earlier today.
"I was delighted to present him with an award for his work as a brewing apprentice at Tennents Lager Caledonian Breweries. Tennent’s cappuccino anyone? Slainte!"
