Celebrate Wimbledon season with this strawberry recipe, with a difference.

The Dhabba In Glasgow’s Merchant City has come up with the perfect accompaniment to mark Wimbledon Fortnight - strawberry and chilli chutney. You can either follow the recipe and make it at home or, if you pop into the North Indian between now and 14 July, you can try it for free.

Ingredients

  • 50 ml vegetable oil
  • 1 medium red onion
  • 1 tspn chilli powder
  • 1kg strawberries, chopped
  • 25g white sugar
  • 1 tspn black pepper
  • 1 green chilli

Method

Strawberry and Chilli chutney

Heat 50 ml vegetable oil in a pan

Add 1 medium size fine chop red onion and cook till golden brown

Add 1 teaspoon red chilli powder

Add 1 kg roughly chopped strawberry cook for 20 minutes

Add a pinch of salt, 4/5 finely chopped green chilli 25gm sugar and 1 teaspoon black pepper.

Cook for another 5 minutes. Either serve straight away or decant into washed jars and store for up to a month.
