A spokesperson for Hen of the Woods, the kitchen team behind The Hug & Pint and The Glad Cafe, said: “We understand that Christmas can be a difficult time for many.

“That’s why we are hosting a free community dinner at both venues on Christmas Day for anyone who might need some company, can’t afford a big Christmas dinner, or doesn’t have a place to go.”

From midday until 5pm at both venues, their team of volunteers will be serving a full Christmas dinner, consisting of veggie haggis and all the trimmings and offering a warm and welcoming atmosphere for anyone who fancies it.

The spokesperson added: “This dinner is free to everyone and absolutely everybody is welcome, no questions asked.
