The Dipping Lugger brings Michelin-star House of Tides to Ullapool

The Dipping Lugger restaurant with rooms is hosting a two-night special tasting menu with guest chef.

Alex Henderson, Scotland native and sous chef at one of Newcastle’s most celebrated restaurants, House of Tides, will be taking up residency at The Dipping Lugger on 25 and 26 February.

Alex and The Dipping Lugger’s head chef, David Smith have designed a 10-course tasting menu that showcases the best of both restaurants.

The Dipping Lugger is a restaurant and rooms overlooking the shores of Loch Broom in Ullapool on Scotland’s West Highland Coast, which opened in September 2021.

David Smith’s menus showcase the fantastic produce the Highlands are famous for, including Ullapool’s incredible seafood.

David's CV which includes some of Scotland’s best restaurants, such as Boath House and Ullinish Country Lodge Hotel.

This is the first time old school friends, Alex and David will collaborate and bring both of their techniques and influences to the table.

Kenny Atkinson, chef patron of the House of Tides said: “We are extremely proud to see our talented chef, Alex bringing a taste of House of Tides to The Dipping Lugger.

"This collaborative tasting menu with a fellow chef friend should be a night of gastronomy for the local guests of Ullapool as they’re in for a real treat.”

The 10-course menu is priced at £95 per person with an optional wine pairing available. Bookings can be made on the website. A dinner, bed and breakfast package is priced at £430 per night.
