The 30-year-old from Leeds appeared at The Cake & Bake Show at Edinburgh’s Royal Highland Centre.

While she was cooking on stage, she chatted to the crowd and took questions from the audience.

Taking it all in her stride she admitted she felt surprisingly calm, said she loved cooking with her children, and she would love to write a book, which would include cooking as well as baking. She loves a kitchen gadget because she said “I’ve got three kids and don’t always have a lot of time”.

Chefs she would love to meet include Rick Stein, Jamie Oliver and Eric Lanlard – who is also a celebrity ambassador for The Cake & Bake Show.

Speaking of her first visit to Scotland, Nadiya said, “The journey up here was beautiful, it’s made me think I should definitely come back and visit Scotland more. I can’t believe I haven’t been here before. I think I’ll try and stay with Flora (Shedden) and see more of the country.”

Flora, this year’s youngest Great British Bake Off contestant also made her first live appearance in front of a home crowd.

She made a sugar free pistachio and apple cake, chatted to the crowd, spoke about her experiences of appearing on the Great British Bake Off and answered questions from the audience.
