Glenalmond farmers' market two-day celebration of quality Scottish food, drink and crafts, run in association with Perth Farmers’ Market, will be held from 10am to 4pm each day in the Quad at the heart of the award-winning school.
Visitors to the event will be able to enjoy viewing the school, as well as relaxing and sampling top quality Scottish food and drink.
Glenalmond College, believed to be the first school to host a Farmers’ Market of this scale, is proud of its strong links to the land and, indeed, its founding families 175 years ago included many well-respected agricultural families.
Many of the school’s former pupils have gone on to forge careers in farming and food-related businesses, from soft fruit to ice cream, whisky and gin.
Visitors to the event will find stalls ranging from baked goods from Casella and Polegato Bakery, fish from Alex Sprink & Sons, jelly and sauces from Allan’s Chilli Products to gemstone jewellery from MG Gems.
There will also be a selection of food-to-go stalls, including Screaming Peacock, which serves wild game burgers, and gin from The Perth Distillery Company’s quirky converted horsebox bar.
“We are delighted with the level of interest in the event and, with the weather forecast looking ideal, we are very much looking forward to welcoming stallholders and visitors this weekend to share our wonderful grounds,” said Dr Michael Alderson, Head of Glenalmond College.
Stallholders who met at Glenalmond College for a visit prior to the event were delighted and very impressed with the venue, which is just 15 minutes west of Perth and an hour from Edinburgh and Glasgow.
Adeline Watson, Manager of Perth Farmers’ Market said: “Glenalmond College is just beautiful and the school is providing an excellent venue, which is one many people may not have visited before. I’m delighted that we are welcoming several new stallholders to the event as well as our wonderful regular stallholders.”
Further information about the event is available on Glenalmond’s website.
