A fresh and different style of Indian food is being pioneered at The Mumbai Mansion Restaurant & Grill in the Haymarket area of Edinburgh.

The restaurant is taking a contemporary approach to Indian cuisine, using subtle spicing to showcase great Scottish seasonal produce.

The focus is on locally sourced seafood and meat dishes cooked in a healthier style using authentic Indian methods including the sizzling Tawa grill and Sigri cooking stove, alongside the traditional Tandoor oven.

The award-winning kitchen team at The Mumbai Mansion Restaurant and Grill is led by head chef Pramod Nawani who has over 20 years of Indian culinary experience. Desserts are the responsibility of the restaurant’s own resident pâtissier Dev Singh Rawat who gives an Indian-inspired twist to some classic favourites.

The Mumbai Mansion Manager Merwyn Pereira said: “We identified a gap in the Edinburgh dining scene for more high-end, Indian fusion food using traditional and healthier cooking techniques. Our contemporary Indian dishes offer diners a distinctive difference from the usual Indian cuisine and we are proud to serve fresh Scottish seafood, meat and specially created desserts.”

The Mumbai Mansion offers a full a la carte menu and a range of tasting menus featuring dishes such as Scallop and Mussels in Nilghiri, Grilled Lobster and Whole Leg of Scottish Lamb.

Head chef Pramod Nawani said: “We are lucky to have such fantastic local produce here in Scotland, from the land and the sea, and our philosophy at Mumbai Mansion is to delicately cook these fine ingredients and showcase their natural flavours and textures, complemented by classic Indian spices.”

• Mumbai Mansion is open every day for lunch from 12noon to 2.00pm and for dinner from 5.00pm to 11pm.
