The pitt is a brand new venture set up by a number of Edinburgh’s street food vendors, and their first event will take place on Saturday, December 12.
Based in Pitt Street, between Leith and Newhaven, the pitt’s semi-covered industrial venue will bring together the cream of the crop of Scotland's Street Food offering as well as some of the stars from Scotland's brewing and distilling scene.
The event will be free to attend and will run from 12pm to 10pm on Saturday the 12th December.
With live entertainment, music and plenty of vendors, it's sure to be a great day out.
Street food traders Hal Prescott and Scott Kirkham are part of the team behind the event, and they told WOW 24/7 that they believe the pitt will complement Edinburgh’s already burgeoning foodie scene.
They said: “Having visited various European and Asian cities we knew the concept of a dedicated food market worked well and created a fantastic environment lasting well into the night.
“We’re still in times of austerity but people are still spending and wanting to enjoy themselves – the pitt will facilitate this and help fledging local businesses to flourish.
“Edinburgh has a fantastic food scene and I think the street food market will fit perfectly into it. It’s the ideal launch platform for aspiring chefs and entrepreneurs to launch their ideas and concepts without the colossal investment a restaurant requires.
“Not to mention that the value for money that consumers are getting is fantastic. You can have gourmet three-course dinner for under £15.
“We’ve got some big plans for 2016 and look forward to making it happen with the people of Edinburgh.”
Vendors already confirmed include Rost, Crema Caravan, Barnacles and Bones, Scoff, The Mighty Mexican and Fresh Revolution.
This one off Christmas Street Food celebration will act as a launch pad for a regular event that will see the festival returning throughout 2016.
