Ever wanted to dine under the stars and the full moon? All while enjoying excellent food and wine in a wonderful setting? Well the Secret Herb Garden's Full Moon dinners may just be the thing for you.

The Secret Herb Garden in the south west of Edinburgh was set up by Hamish and Liberty Martin to celebrate ' the magic of herbs'. Hamish who left his career in wine to set up the project, has created a wonderful garden that offers visitors the chance to learn about herbs and enjoy good food and drink in a wonderful setting.

The Moon Light dinners will present diners with the chance to eat their meals within the glasshouse. They sample the best foraged herbs and local produce, which has been used to create wonderful mouth watering meals, all lovingly prepared by the herb garden's in-house chef.

On top of this Hamish will use his twenty years experience in the wine industry to match with the perfect wine with each meal.

Liberty and Hamish say the dinners were inspired by their passion for the moon, which they see as important as, if not more than, the sun, in terms of the lives of herbs and plants, Hamish explains: "Obviously, the key thing will be for people to enjoy great food and wine in such unique surroundings but we also hope to make people more aware of the importance of the moon and its central place within the life of plants."

Each month will offer a different set menu and Hamish says part of the fun is using plants that many perceive as weeds, as part of each meal. He said: "We use these wild plants, not just because of their abundance and accessibility, but also because many people don't know of their excellent hidden properties as good food and even as medicines.
"In the past we have used many different types but for the next dinner in April we will be looking to use nettles, which really are a fantastic and versatile plant."
Hamish hopes that diners will also enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and purposefully sets out to make the meals their chefs produce as inclusive as possible. "We really want to push the idea of community and showcase the importance of food not just in terms of sustenance but also for social well-being."

So why not enjoy a unique experience surrounded by wonderful herbs, good company, great food and excellent wine all under the light of the full moon.
