Haarbour opened in late 2020 and was a long term dream of the Masterchef finalist.

During a chat with the Scotsman last year, the celebrated chef revealed plans for his chippy, Haarbour, which was located on Alexandra Place.

Sadly, Dean has now revealed that he won't be reopening the chippy, which has been closed due to Covid-19 restrictions.

In a post on social media, he wrote: "Hi everyone, due to unfortunate reasons @haarbourstandrews will be sadly permanently closed.

"We have been closed for a few months now however I wanted to make sure everyone knew this if you didn't already know. I am so sorry to all my amazing followers and supporters.

"If you have a cash voucher this will be fully refunded or you can use it at any of my other businesses so please email info@haarbour.com with any questions. If you have purchased a voucher via itison you will need to contact them directly as we do not hold funds for these and have already let them know what has happened.

"Haarbour was a vision of mine since I began my career so we will push to reopen in a new site in the near future. You can contact info@haarbour.com if you have any questions. Thank you for your support Dean Banks."

Earlier this year Dean opened his signature restaurant at The Pompadour in Edinburgh, having closed Haar in St Andrews.

Dean Banks at The Pompadour, which is located within the five star Waldorf Astoria - The Caledonian hotel, is billed as "the ultimate Dean Banks experience."
