On Thursday October 28, Bross Bagels are launching a new series of Bagels & Beer Lates.

They’ll be teaming up with various local breweries, and these events will take place at their Portobello branch, which will open late to host guests from 7pm. At the first session diners will experience a bagel and beer flight for £26pp, including a quiz, a goodie bag and giveaway. The food offerings will consist of a tasting menu of five mini versions of these sannies, along with the same amount of matching craft beers from Leith based brewery, Pilot.

Bross Bagels founder Larah Bross says; “What better way to spend an autumn evening than with the best hops and holes Edinburgh has to offer! Enjoying a night of bagels and beer is very much part of the Montreal café culture that inspires our Bross venues. To bring that to Edinburgh in partnership with creative and pioneering independent brands like Pilot, is certainly going to fill a hole I miss from home and hopefully inspire our guests to enjoy the adventure and try some new flavour combinations.”

The event will be hosted by craft-beer connoisseur, Aidy Fenwick, along with Larah Bross.

Expect options including Bross’ Big Apple with pastrami, melted Jack, dill pickles, mayo and mustard served on a lightly toasted pretzel bagel, accompanied by Pilot’s sweet and malty Vienna Pale. There’s also a bagel twist on a fish supper, teamed with Pilot’s Blonde, and the sandwich and brew crawl will conclude with a sweet bagel and Pilot’s Mochaccino Stout, which is flavoured with roast coffee, Tahitian vanilla and cacao nibs. There are vegan and vegetarian alternatives available.

If you can’t make it on October 28, one of the creations will be available to buy from Bross’ Portobello branch for a limited period from October 29-31. It’s the sesame seed bagel filled with chicken teriyaki, hot pink jalapeno slaw and Pilot beer battered onion rings, teamed with Pilot’s Philly Cherry - a Bross exclusive and the last chance to try this limited edition brew.
