Mary’s Meals are calling on families to set one more place at the table this Christmas by revealing celebrity chef, Tom Kitchin’s ultimate Christmas dinner recipe at tomschristmasdinner.com, costing just £12.20 and with no turkey in sight.

Visitors to the site who watch the video will soon realise that actually, The Most Amazing Christmas Dinner In The World is a donation of £12.20 to Mary’s Meals, the charity that feeds some of the world’s poorest children in a place of education. Working as an ambassador for the charity, the thought provoking campaign, created by creative agency Whitespace, shows Michelin star chef Tom giving his top tips for creating The Most Amazing Christmas Dinner - simply by setting a place at the virtual dinner table.

Guests to the site will have the opportunity to set one more place by donating £12.20, which will not only feed a child for Christmas, but for an entire school year. What Christmas dinner recipe could be better? The place setting, with your name will then be added to the table alongside Tom’s and hundreds of others.

The image of your plate can also be downloaded to send as an alternative Christmas gift to a loved one.

Chef Tom Kitchin said: “As a parent, you can’t imagine not being able to give your children the kind of food that will help them grow and thrive. Yet hunger and malnutrition is still so common for millions of children around the world. I’m really proud to be a part of the One More for Christmas campaign this year. Mary’s Meals do an incredible amount of work with children across the world and make a real difference to young people’s lives throughout the year.

“For me, this campaign captures the true meaning of Christmas. Preparing Christmas dinner for the whole family can be daunting and sometimes we forget what this time of year should be all about. One More for Christmas makes creating the most amazing Christmas dinner simple – a small donation, and a fraction of the price of a normal festive dinner can feed a hungry child for a whole year.”

Magnus MacFarlane Barrow, founder and CEO of Mary’s Meals said: “This is the second year that Whitespace has gifted a Christmas campaign to Mary’s Meals. They came to us with the fantastic idea to launch ‘One More For Christmas’ on our website last year and people loved it. The fact that they’ve built on this to involve Michelin-starred chef, Tom Kitchin, this year – to entice more people to support Mary’s Meals – to feed even more hungry children is just amazing!

“This is fantastic news for Mary’s Meals and another step in introducing us to new supporters to help us feed more impoverished children across the world. I can’t thank Tom and the team at Whitespace enough!”

Whitespace’s One More For Christmas campaign was first launched in 2014 with thousands of people setting a place at the table, raising an amazing £47,000. This year, the One More For Christmas campaign has been launched in eight countries including Spain, France, Italy and Canada – and now, supported by other Edinburgh agencies and media companies, with a little help from one of the UK’s top chefs, the charity hopes to build on the phenomenal total from its first outing. After all, there’s always room for One More at Christmas.
