National Whisky Festival Edinburgh: Ticket prices, times and masterclass info

The National Whisky Festival of Scotland continues its return to live exhibition events with a winter edition of the popular Scottish cultural festival scheduled to take place in Edinburgh from 11 December.

After a sell out success at Aberdeen Music Hall in September, Scotland’s whisky festival will make a trip back to the capital for another edition of it’s annual tasting events - this time debuting at Edinburgh’s popular events complex Summerhall, where the festival will debut on Saturday 11 December. 

Festival organisers said: “Our Aberdeen edition was a reminder that collaboration and celebration with those around us is vitally important to what we do and we are excited to once again be walking into the dynamic world of physical whisky events.

"Edinburgh Summerhall is a brand new venue for us and will provide the perfect atmosphere for our newest event in the capital this December. We can’t wait to show you all what we have in store.”

Across two extensive three-and-a-half hour sessions, each event will showcase dozens of exhibitors from many of the most exciting and innovative names from across the industry spectrum, each bringing with them an diverse range of incredible whiskies and guest spirits  - all of which are available to try and included in the ticket price.

The team added: "Whether you're a seasoned enthusiast or a curious newcomer, you can expect a relaxed day of exploration, celebration and tasting alongside a full programme of live entertainment, pop up food vendors and craft stalls. 

"We're also taking over Summerhall's historical Anatomy Lecture Theatre to host a series of exclusive curated masterclass tastings including ‘Whisky & Sherry: A spiritual pairing class with Scotch Malt Whisky Society’ and ‘Around the world with Whisk(e)y’ with Billy Abbott – celebrated brand ambassador of The Whisky Exchange and published author of The Philosophy of Whisky.

Ardgowan distillery unveils Anchorsmith and Draughtsman - the final whiskies in Clydebuilt series 
  • Entry to one National Whisky Festival Session (3 ½ hrs)
  • Unique ‘National Whisky Festival Of Scotland’ branded Glencairn crystal nosing glass, to use on the day and take home
  • Access to sampling an extensive range of different whiskies

Around the world with Whisk(e)y

Session Two: 6.25 - 7.05pm

"We are delighted to welcome Billy Abbott – celebrated brand ambassador of The Whisky Exchange and published author of The Philosophy of Whisky – who will take you around the world, exploring our favourite spirit’s intertwined history in the best way possible: by tasting it."

Known for cake making, experimental jam recipes, Champagne, whisky and gin drinking (and the inability to cook Gnocchi), Rosalind is the Food and Drink Editor and whisky writer for The Scotsman, as well as hosting Scran, The Scotsman's food and drink podcast.
