Scapa distillery on Orkney has recently launched the ‘Scapa Sanctuary trails’ with hiking and outdoor activity app, Outdooractive, inviting whisky enthusiasts and outdoor adventurers to find a moment of sanctuary from daily life.
Each Scapa Sanctuary trail culminates at the Scapa Distillery, where visitors can sample the 10, 16 and 21 Year Old whiskies against the tranquil backdrop of Orkney's stunning Scapa Flow.
Hosted on global hiking app, Outdooractive, each Scapa Sanctuary trail is designed to showcase the artistry of local Orcadian craftspeople, as well as the untouched beauty of the island's natural landscapes which have inspired Scapa’s aged collection of malt whiskies.
Trail options range from leisurely walks to more challenging hikes, catering to a variety of fitness levels and interests. These include: Kirkwall to Scapa (4.7 miles); Crantit Trail (4.2 miles) and Folklore and Stones (15 miles), the longest of the routes.

Whether guests are looking to taste the aged signature range, embark on a guided tour, or to enjoy some post-hike sustenance with a full food pairing experience featuring Orcadian delicacies with a Japanese twist in the ‘Scapa Noust’ clifftop tasting room, there’s something for everyone.
For those who cannot travel to Orkney, Scapa and Outdooractive are also bringing a taste of Scapa to London, inviting city dwellers to enjoy a moment of calm amidst the chaos closer to home.
Walkers can enjoy London landmarks, a leisurely walk along part of the Thames, and a stop at whisky specialist, The Whisky Exchange in London Bridge to explore Scapa’s aged whiskies.
Crafted with passion and expertise by Scapa master distiller Mick Swanney and his small team, Scapa's aged collection features three single malts.
The 10, 16 and 21 Year Old whiskies all feature distinctive bottles and gift boxes, which echo the hues of Orkney's wild waters and landscapes, from the deep blues of the Atlantic to the heather-covered hills.

Jayne Murphy, marketing director – malts at Chivas Brothers (who own Scapa) said: "The introduction of our first collection of aged single malts last year marked a significant new chapter in Scapa’s history.
“This collection is intrinsically linked to the beauty and rich heritage of the Orkney Isles, and we are pleased to now partner with Outdooractive to launch something that truly embodies this.
“The Scapa Sanctuary Trails is an invitation to experience Orkney through the lens of Scapa, to discover the landscapes and traditions that inspire our craft of whisky making, and to savour the unique flavours of our new aged collection in the place where it all begins."
