Outlander star Sam Heughan to release a Sassenach gin

The actor took to his newly launched TikTok account to announce a new addition to the Sassenach drinks family.

Sam Heughan is gearing up to launch a Sassenach gin, after the sell out success of his award-winning whisky and newly launched tequila.

Posting to his TikTok, and shared on Twitter, the Outlander star said: "I'm here in America, in Santa Monica, and I am tasting lots of little bottles of gin to make the finest gin and tonic as we are creating the Sassenach gin.

"I can't wait to share it with you. We are using the finest botanicals in Scotland and it's going to work really well as a gin and tonic and a martini which I am a big fan of."

When will The Sassenach gin be released?

In the post Heughan added that the gin will be available next summer.

The gin joins his other drinks, The Sassenach whisky and The Sassenach Select Double Wood Reposado tequila, which came about after Heughan took a trip to Mexico and realised that in the UK, we don't have the same appreciation of the drink as elsewhere in the world.

In late 2020 Sam Heughan joined us on our podcast Scran to chat about his Sassenach whisky, as well as why he chose a blend over a single malt, how it was almost made in America and his re-discovered love of Scotland through filming Outlander.

The actor also hinted at what other drinks may be released, saying: "In the future, I think we're going to start looking at other innovative spirits, whether it's whisky or something else.

"But I think a single grain (whisky) is definitely a route we want to look at as well, because they're so good - and probably the majority of what I'm drinking right now."
