Supermarket chain Lidl has added a new Pomegranate & Rose gin liqueur to its range - and it will cost less than £12.

The new addition comes in 50cl 'Oslo-shaped' bottles and offers the "perfect combination of fruity and floral flavours", according to the Lidl team, with the rose providing "light floral notes" and the pomegranate adding a "balanced sweetness and tart fruit flavours".

Lidl’s spirits expert, Tristan Stephenson, recommends serving the new spirit with Lidl’s Italian Asti Spumante in a champagne flute with a simple, zesty garnish – such as a twist of lemon.

Fans can’t seem to get enough of the firm's gin and gin liqueurs with the retailer seeing a massive 40 per cent rise in sales this year.

Over 400 bottles per hour of its new gin liqueurs were sold in November alone, equating to 7 bottles per minute within the first few days.

Paul McQuade, head of buying for spirits at Lidl UK: "The new gin liqueur will strengthen and diversify the Hortus offering, moving it on from the popular existing varieties which focus on sweet fruits, and basing this addition on the recent floral spirits trend.

"Since Lidl UK recently won Supermarket Own Branded Spirits Range of the Year at the International Spirits Challenge, we have listened to the fantastic response from our customers and innovated our own-label Hortus range with fantastic results.”
