The spring and summer season are always packed with tempting food and drinks festivals in the majority of cities, and Edinburgh is no exception.
Here are seven upcoming local foodie events that have got our stomachs rumbling already.

Presented by Edinburgh International Science Festival, GastroFest brings the worlds of food and science together with some delicious and fascinating presentations and workshops.
Highlights include a talk about baking in space with Great British Bake Off finalist Andrew Smyth and Cheeseology 3.0, exploring the science behind cheese.

The party that is Edinburgh Craft Beer Festival returns to The Biscuit Factory in Leith, yet again bringing together some of the best modern brewers from around the world in one very cool space.
Pay for your wristband, and you can sample as many tasters as you like, with no annoying beer tokens required.

Held in Summerhall's atmospheric courtyard, FestivALE celebrates all things beer (and some gin, too) on both a local and global scale.
Quirky additions to this year's festival will include tutored crisp and beer pairings, an amazing human jukebox and a one-armed beer bandit, for those who can't decide what to drink.

Celebrating their 10 year anniversary, the Edinburgh Whisky Festival will be back in town in mid-June, allowing fans of a dram to sample whiskies from all across the globe.
Simply approach an exhibitor, ask for a nip, and learn more about what you're drinking as you taste it.
You can also sign up for fascinating masterclasses, led by whisky experts.

Returning to Inverleith Park, this year's popular Foodies Festival will be star-studded.
From 2017's Great British Bake Off winner, Sophie Faldo, to band The Hoosiers (who will be performing live), expect to see quite a few famous famous - and enjoy some delicious food and drinks, of course.

Anyone following a vegan lifestyle or thinking about adopting one will be excited to head along to this vegan festival.
As well as getting to try and buy cruelty free foods, drinks and clothing, you can learn more about veganism from interesting speakers.

Caffeine addicts rejoice - Edinburgh Coffee Festival will be back at the Corn Exchange this autumn, offering demonstrations, interactive workshops and - of course - lots and lots of damn good coffee.
