Grunting Growler, the craft beer off-licence extraordinaire, is teaming up with  Avenue Coffee Roasting Co. to host a unique beer, coffee, and food pairing event. In a bid to explore the flavour profiles - and the combinations there of - of some truly outstanding beer, coffee and food, the pair will be offering 2 separate guided tastings.

Attendees will learn about the origin, taste profiles, and pairing guidelines for each beer and coffee. Everyone will then be broken down into groups in order to create their own winning combination of coffee, beer, and food pairing. The contestants will then be judged by the beer and coffee aficionados of Grunting Growler, and Avenue Coffee with the winning team taking home a curated prize.

Jehad Hatu, of Grunting Growlersaid: “Todd (GM of Avenue Coffee Roasting Co.), and I were introduced through a mutual friend. And even though beer and coffee are very different, we found a connection through beverages made in small batches, using high quality ingredients, and that taste really great”.

Todd Whiteford, of Avenue G Coffee Roasting Co.,cited the similarities between the two companies - and their respective industries - as part of the reason he thinks the partnership works so well, he said: “There seems to be a real like-mindedness between our two industries. There always tends to be a big crossover between our customer bases – discerning types, who know quality and craft when they taste it, and as soon as we started bouncing ideas off each other it really felt like this was going to be a special event.”

Jehad points out that the event is perfect for those looking for a Father's Day gift, he added: “We’ve planned the event just after Father’s Day as we know it would make the perfect present for those coffee and beer loving dads out there.”

The coffee, beer and food pairing is taking place on 25 June at 6.30 pm at Avenue G Coffee, 321 Great Western Road.

Tickets can be purchased in store at Grunting Growler 21 Clarence Drive (Friday-Sunday 10-10), or at Avenue G, 321 Great Western Road.
