The Scottish actor, who plays Jamie Fraser on the show, announced the news that he would be launching his own drinks brand on social media last year and has now revealed a UK release date for his Sassenach whisky.
Sassenach whisky, whose name is a nod to the nickname Sam’s character Jamie has given his on-screen love interest Claire on the show, had a successful trial earlier this year ahead of a US launch in March - leaving UK fans waiting to try the blended whisky.
Sassenach whisky made its debut on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, and sold out quickly in America leading the star to announce a second release in the US and a finally UK release date.
Posting on his social media, the Outlander star said: "Scotland awakes, bottles are being filled with gold and labeled with love. Putting the finishing touches on the next release. The Sassenach will be available in the US.. and the UK in November 2020 with additional regions to follow! Stay safe all. With love."
The actor revealed that the whisky will be for sale in the UK in 2020 on, fittingly, St Andrews Day - 30 November, something that he hinted at during his chat with us on our podcast Scran.
After a sell out run, it's now back on sale in the UK in time for Christmas 2021.
He said: "End of November is what I'm saying. And actually, if you look at the end of November, the 30th of November is St Andrews day. So that might be a nice day to to launch...
"We're just gearing up to to that launch, and in the UK, we have one of the biggest online retailers of spirits and whiskies, who is going to stock it.
"We're also looking at a lot of individual retailers and a couple of restaurants and bars, hopefully, which will be open by then obviously, with lockdown."
May be a cold winter ahead but here’s something to warm you!!

In August last year, the Scottish actor announced the decision to launch a new business, Great Glen Company, in an interview with The Scotch Malt Whisky Society (SMWS) published last year.
During this interview he revealed that his dream was to launch his own whisky, saying: “First stop is obviously the lifelong dream of having my own dram.”
He’s also previously joked that whisky makes you “thinner and happier”, but added that the real reason he loves whisky is that it reminds him “so much of home”.
A big fan of single malts, he even shared with us some of his favourites a few years back.
Sassenach whisky won double gold in this year's San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
The Sassenach whisky, which has been made by Loch Lomond Whiskies, is on sale priced at £79.95.
The whisky is described as being: “Inspired by the Highland landscape, the Sassenach is a uniquely blended Scotch whisky with a distinct character and smooth flavour, suitable for any occasion.
“Ancient peaks, hidden glens, and rising morning mist, freshwater and firm oak run deep in its veins.
“Matured in casks that previously held fine Madeira wine, the exceptional blend has an underlying rich character that rises to the forefront.”
With regard to flavour notes, it’s described as the nose being packed with “citrus fruits, almonds, and vanilla”, while on the palate, expect to find notes of “peach, apricot, honey, and butterscotch”.
The whisky is available to pre-order at Loch Lomond Whiskies, and to buy online at Master of Malt.
