It is at this time of year that everyone seems to go a little mad when it comes to new regimes and diets, exercise plans and other fads, but I have to say even as a health coach I am not a fan. First of all January is cold and wet and dark and the last thing I want to do is a juice cleanse - I think I would freeze to death!
I like to make every day a detox but not in the way you think. To me detoxing is about nourishing your whole self and therefore is shouldn’t be a one off event. And one super easy, speedy and simple way that I like to do this is to make sure I have a green smoothie every day.
Green Smoothies may look like pond water but they taste amazing, are 100 per cent natural (no weird powders required), act like a daily multivitamin and can give you massive results in a short space of time. So much so that I created a 10 Day Green Smoothie Challenge which is all about adding one green smoothie to your day for ten days and watching what happens. One of my fellow Glaswegian green smoothie challengers said:
“I anticipated me holding my nose and swallowing bitter tasting green sloop and to be honest was skeptical that there would be any change in me.
"How wrong was I!? First of all they actually taste really good…there has been massive reduction in my sugar cravings, I feel boosted and I have definitely lost a few pounds too!”
So if you looking to increase your energy and add in more good stuff this month then please don't diet or cleanse or run miles and miles every day (Though I would always recommend moderate exercise) just add some green smoothie goodness to your day.
For me, this Chocolate and Ginger Smoothie Muffin Smoothie is the perfect place to start. Full of calcium, vitamin C, iron, protein and digestion easing ginger, along with other natural immunity boosting goodness, it is going to add some spring to your step. Plus did I tell you that green smoothies take just 2 minutes to make? So there are no excuses for you to not feel amazing and to get healthier this year.
