Cocktails in the City, the hugely popular UK cocktail event, is returning to Edinburgh this month. Here's everything you need to know.

What is Cocktails in the City?

Cocktails in the City brings cocktail-lovers (over 35,000 guests since 2012) and the country’s best bars, all under one roof.

Dubbed as the ‘world’s most convenient’ cocktail crawl thanks to everything being under one roof . Therefore there’s no need for buses, taxis or trams.

The Edinburgh edition is set to welcome 18 of the city’s best bars, from hotels and party haunts, to speakeasy’s, tiki bars and restaurant bars. There’s something for everyone.

All in all there will be 18 pop-up mini-versions of popular Capital bars, plus masterclasses, workshops and tastings.

The event will be held at The Mansfield Traquair on Thursday 12 and Friday 13 October and runs from 6pm until 11pm.

For two nights only, “Edinburgh’s Sistine Chapel” hosts 18 pop-up bars run by 18 of the city’s best bars.

The entry ticket is £12 and includes one cocktail redeemable at any of the 18 pop-up bars in attendance.

Cocktails are then £6.50 and available throughout the night.

A flower-filled garden with cocktails mixed by Treacle with Chambord, the black raspberry liqueur.

A whiskey-saloon transporting you to Tennessee with a menu of three cocktails concocted by The Blackbird with Jack Daniel’s Old No. 7.

A secret live stage with local bands all curated by Venue 383 at Nightcap.

A 45 minute whisky blending experience with a 200ml bottle of your own blended whisky to take home.

Coffee and cocktails workshops led by espresso martini expert Stephanie Rainbow.

Will there be drinks offered for designated drivers and people not wanting to drink alcohol?

Yes, non-alcoholic cocktails and water are available from every pop-up bar.

 

When will last orders be?

 Last orders are 10.30pm.

 

Can under-18s attend the event?

No, the event is for over-18s only.

 

Is there a dress code?

No there isn’t a dress code, so get as dressed up or as dressed down as you like.

 

Will there be a cloakroom available?

Yes.

 

Are festival goers allowed to film or photograph the event?

Yes, the events is actively encouraging this so go ahead and take photos or create videos of the event and share them on the Facebook page as well as Instagram through the hashtag #CITCEDIN

 

Will festival goers need to pay for drinks via a token system?

Yes tokens will be £6.50 – avalaible at the token banks.

 

Can festival goers bring cash, cards or both?

The event is cashless – don’t worry about taking out money you can’t account for later – it’s card all the way.

 

Will there be first aiders on site?

Yes, there will be first aiders at the event should they be needed.

 

Is there access for wheelchair users?

Yes there is access for wheelchair users.
