The Arbroath Smokie is recognised at the highest levels in Europe. It has official protection through the Protected Geographical Indication, putting it on the same stage as products like Champagne and Parma Ham.

This means the name Arbroath Smokie can only be used to describe haddock, smoked in the traditional manner and within Arbroath. Only the very best haddock can be used to produce an authentic Smokie.

The Arbroath Smokie is just one of the many quality Scottish products to enjoy this globally recognised status joining products like Scotch Beef, Scotch Lamb and Scottish Salmon which are renowned for their exceptional taste and used by leading chefs the world over.
