Greggs fans can look forward to indulging in a range of winter warmers and tasty treats this festive season, as the chain has revealed its new Christmas menu for 2020.
Christmas may still be several weeks away, but some festive goodies are already available in bakery branches, with other items due to go on sale over the next two weeks.
The chain’s popular festive bake will be making its return this year, although it is slightly higher in price.
Rising from £1.55 in 2019 to £1.60, the bake contains pieces of chicken breast, sage and onion stuffing and bacon, all encased in a sage and cranberry sauce and delicious flaky pastry.
Greggs’ caramel latte is also making a comeback for Christmas 2020. The coffee comes with salted caramel syrup, cream and a shortbread crumb. Unlike the festive bake, the latte has reduced in price, dropping from £2.75 to £1.95 for a 12oz cup.
Greggs has also reduced the prices of several other menu items after VAT rates were cut from 20 per cent to five per cent for hospitality businesses.
While there are several other tasty treats to enjoy this year, including both savoury and sweet items, the bakery chain doesn’t appear to be bringing back its side dish of pigs in blankets, its turkey sandwich, or its Christmas lunch soup this festive season.
However, there is a pigs under blanket baguette, which is filled with pork sausages, sweetcure bacon, pork, sage and onion stuffing, topped with a cranberry and port sauce.
Festive sweet treats include mini shortbreads topped with caramel sauce, Belgian milk chocolate and a gold finish, along with Christmas tree shaped ginger biscuits. These come covered in Belgian chocolate and decorated with sugar ball sprinkles and a sugar paste star.
And, if hot chocolate is your go-to drink over the festive period, Greggs is offering a delicious mint creation, made with milk, mint flavoured syrup and topped with cream and sugar sprinkles.
