Scotland has a great global reputation for producing world class drinks from whisky to gin to craft beer and more recently rum and fruit wines. This evolution and tales of the drinks industry have been the catalyst in creating the festival.
With over 150 different types of drinks will be available to sample including Makar Glasgow Gin, Strathearn, Deanston, Bunnahabhain , Old J Rums & cocktails, Fallen Beer, Fraiser of Scotland, Savanha cider, Poleta wine, Shetland Reel and One Gin, it'll be a weekend to leave the car at home.
Each drinks tasting session will be accompanied by live music from some local acoustic artists. The festival will also feature fresh culinary delights from some of the city’s best pop up street food specialists.
Jack Breslin, the Festival Director said: “We’re thrilled at last to announce this enriched festival experience. The first ever Scottish Drinks Festival will certainly live up to our nation’s global reputation within in the drinks industry."
"We will showcase an authentic and credible Scottish drink tasting experience in an unexpected, memorable way. The old Glasgow Fish Market, a grade A listed building round the corner from Glasgow Green really is the ideal location to host such an exhibition. The whole team have worked tirelessly to ensure all our visitors get a real flavour of Scotland!”
Not only will visitors learn more about the industry and sample a drink or two, they will also receive a complimentary glass, and event programme, as well as some other surprises from the exhibitors on the day.
