Festive recipe: Christmas port punch

Warm up this Christmas with a sweet take on a winter's classic

Put the sugar, lemon juice, port and cognac into a pan.

Add a slice of orange and lemon and sprinkle in some ground cloves.

Bring to a simmer.

Once heated through, pour into a mug.

Serve with one star anise and a cinnamon stick.

  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 2 tsp lemon juice
  • 2 oz port such as Taylor’s Port Fine Ruby
  • 1 oz Cognac
  • Slice of fresh orange
  • Slice of fresh lemon
  • 1/2 tsp ground cloves
  • 1 star anise
  • 1 cinnamon stick
