An advisory notice posted by Food Standards Scotland (FSS) revealed that the product is a "possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to egg" and that Nevis bakery, which is based in Fort William, had taken steps to remove the product from the market.
However, people who are unsure about whether they have bought a batch affected by the issue, and have an allergy to eggs, have been asked return it to the store where it was purchased for a full refund.

Posting on their website, Nevis Bakery wrote: "We are recalling our large single packed empire biscuit 110g. They contain Egg that is not declared on the pack."
The batches affected include 001 to 094 and FSS have stated that no other Nevis Bakery products have been affected.
