Fife farm and butcher named as finalist in national awards

Puddledub, a Fife based farmer and butcher have been nominated as finalists for the Scottish Butcher’s Shop of The Year Awards 2023.

The award seeks best independent retail butchers across the UK looking at innovation, quality displays and online retail whilst also celebrating quality, commitment, and achievement throughout the UK butchery industry.

Peter Mitchell of Puddledub said “It is a huge honour to be thought of among the best butchers in the country, our shop showcases fresh pork and bacon from our family farm only a few miles away.

"We source the very best of Scottish meats and fresh local produce with a focus on local sourcing, sustainability, and low food miles. We want to congratulate all of the other finalists in this year’s awards and wish them success in the finals”.

The Mitchell family have been at their family farm in Clentrie, Auchtertool since 1905 and since 1999 have slowly built their reputation as one of Scotland’s finest bacon and pork producers.

Using traditional methods at their on-farm butchery, they take care and attention in all aspects of their family business to offer a “farm to fork” offering with genuine provenance at the heart of what they do.

Their award-winning range is available in their Kirkcaldy High Street Butcher Shop or for online home delivery.

The Butcher’s Shop of The Year Awards will take place in Birmingham on May 22 and are the only awards which are dedicated to honouring, promoting, and celebrating the UK butcher trade.
