Although we entered the Year of the Tiger on February 1, the Lunar New Year festivities are continuing for a bit longer at Edinburgh’s Harvey Nichols.

Available until February 15, the date of the Chinese Lantern Festival, which marks the end of the New Year season, they’ve designed four themed cocktails to see out this occasion. They’ll be served up in the Forth Floor Bar, with its view of St Andrew Square.

“Our limited edition cocktail menu pays tribute to the Lunar New Year and is a fusion of East Asian flavours with a Scottish twist,” says bar manager, Isaac Sanz-Roney.

Choose from the Asian Pear, which is like an acidic pear drop sweet thanks to a fruity combination of Grey Goose Pear Vodka, ginger syrup, lime juice and vegan egg white alternative, Foamee, all topped with a single purple pansy.

There’s also the dramatic looking Red Moon, in the celebratory Chinese New Year vermillion hue that symbolizes fortune and joy. It’s a longer serve and contains Belvedere Raspberry Vodka, as well as pomegranate syrup, lemon juice and Fever Tree soda.

Alternatively, go for the Green Tea Martini, which contains the floral Edinburgh Gin Lemon and Jasmine Gin, as well as a measure of chilled green tea infused with mint, lime juice and honey. Sanz-Roney describes this one as “simultaneously sweet and sour”. The fourth drink is the Chinese NY Margarita, which features a heady combination of jasmine-infused tequila, Cointreau, lime juice and lychee liqueur.

Those who order one of these creations, which range in price from £9.50 to £13.50, will also receive a complimentary bag of luxury beauty samples from their ground floor Beauty Hall’s new resident, Dior Beauty, who set up shop here in November last year. They’ll also get a one to one consultation on counter, which may involve a tour of the new Spring 2022 Collection from this luxury brand.

While you’re in this department store, it’s also worth browsing their Forth Floor Foodmarket, as they have new additions including Sipsmith’s FreeGlider Non-Alcoholic Spirit and truffles and coffee beans from London brand EL&N, all served in bright pink packaging.
