Here we pay tribute to 11 fantastic and underrated establishments that we think have more than earned a prestigious award.

Scottish restaurants that deserve a Michelin star

Six by Nico, Glasgow

Serving a uniquely themed six course gourmet menu which changes every month, Six by Nico is fine dining on relatively modest budget - around £30 per person.

Past whimsical themes have included 'Childhood', 'Route 66' and 'Disney'.

The Three Chimneys, Isle of Skye

Although it was once awarded a Michelin star back in 2014, The Three Chimneys on Skye doesn't currently have one.

The elegant restaurant specialises in cuisine made using local produce, and recipes that honour both Scotland's culinary heritage and ancient Nordic connections.

Cafe St Honore, Edinburgh

A hidden gem in plain sight, Cafe St Honore is a French brasserie located just off the beaten track of George Street in Edinburgh's city centre.

Nestled in the Scottish Borders, the family-run Firebrick Brasserie in the town of Lauder opened in late 2015, and already has a reputation as one of the country's best bistros.

With 20 years of experience under their belts, chef David Haetzman and pastry chef Amanda Jordan have created a restaurant and menu to be proud of, showcasing Scottish seafood, perfectly executed Sunday roasts and moreish desserts.

North Port Restaurant, Perth

Cosy and classic, North Port only opened in 2014, but the husband and wife team at its helm have quickly turned the restaurant into a favourite for Perth locals and visitors alike.
