CHEF Tom Kitchin has created a craft beer in parternship with Isle of Skye Brewing Co.

The celebrity cook, who writes a weekly recipe for Scotsman Food and Drink, is set to launch a premium ale called Yer Ben – in honour of his grandfather, Ben Robinson.

The product has been born out of demand from diners at Kitchin’s Stockbridge eatery The Scran & Scallie, where the product will be launched this weekend.

Kitchin said: “I’m fanatical about the quality, locality and freshness of the ingredients that go into every dish I serve and I’m no less passionate and committed to knowing all about the origins of the drinks we serve and enjoy.

“My grandfather really inspired me to carefully consider the quality and condition of beer, so I’ve always worked hard to seek out the very, very best.”
Kenny Webster, managing director at Isle of Skye Brewing, said: “Working with Tom felt like a natural fit.

“He’s been part of the process throughout, exploring our home in Skye, working with our brewers, developing the recipe and really immersing himself every step of the way.

“The final product reflects his taste, personality and passion for Scotland, matched with the expertise of our brewers and the produce we have access to in Skye.”

The 5.5 per cent beer costs £3.35 per bottle and is available to buy online at www.thekitchin.com, or at www.skyeale.com
