Scottish brewer Innis & Gunn have announced plans to celebrate the opening of their latest Brewery Taproom in Leith in Edinburgh this week by serving specially created metres of lager alongside a metre-long hot dog.

The extra-long glasses, inspired by the design of the brewer’s famous lager glass, and the giant hot dogs created by craft producers Brigston & Co, are to remind guests and staff to stay safe, as well as have fun. In strictly limited quantities, both will be available for guests to order when doors open at 58 The Shore in Leith on Friday (21 August) at 3pm.

In line with Innis & Gunn’s other bars, beer lovers can expect a killer selection of great beers, buzzing atmosphere and delicious food served up in the scenic setting of The Shore.

A brand-new food menu will be launched, featuring dishes like beef cheek profiteroles, hop salt squid, and stout short rib bao buns. The new bar features a large outdoor area to the front, with a charming seated area and plenty of parasols for shelter.

Indoors the bar has been fully refurbished, adding 16 draft lines, take away beer fridges, and signature warm touches like neon lights and murals.

Staff have been fully trained on ensuring physical distancing measures are adhered to.

Dougal Gunn Sharp, founder and master brewer at Innis & Gunn, said: “The launch of our new Taproom is a huge moment for us, but we’re acutely aware of our responsibilities in encouraging customers to follow the guidance to protect themselves, staff and the industry.

"In recognition of the current situation, we have created a metre-long version of our famous pint glass with an accompanying metre long hot dog created by Brigston & Co, to help remind people to physically distance while they are with us. We can’t think of a tastier reminder of the rules.

“Since opening the doors of our other sites a few weeks ago glowing reviews have flowed in from guests who have described the atmosphere and safety measures as best in class.

"That gives us absolute confidence people can come to our bars and enjoy a great experience in safety. We are also pleased to be able to create jobs at a time of such uncertainly for many and anticipate taking on 12 new staff in this bar.
