Thanks to a host of brewers, producers and like-minded organisers, the Great Scottish Beer Celebration - which had been under threat due to organisers Hippo Beers Ltd going into liquidation - is now set to ‘rise from the ashes’.
The two-day event, held over four sessions, is considered one of Scotland’s most respected showcases of the craft beer revolution.
The collective behind the last minute rescue now want to not only reassure those who have bought tickets that the popular festival will go ahead, but that it will also be a not-for-profit event, meaning all the hard work of guests in trying out the array of fine beers and ciders will be for a good cause.
All profits raised from the two day beer celebration - now dubbed Beer Makes Glasgow - will go to help the Drumchapel Food Bank who work to support people facing financial crisis, providing them with food parcels on a scheduled and emergency basis, five days a week.
It is hoped the event will highlight the further, necessary support the food bank requires.
The festival will go ahead as planned at the Glasgow Art School and will bring together a fantastic mix of food, drink and entertainment.
Already signed up so far are Scottish brewing and craft beer favourites Alechemy, Dead End Brew Machine, Drygate, Fallen, Fyne Ales, Gallus, Grunting Growler, Six Degrees North, Tempest, Up Front Brewery and Out of Town.
Representing cider at the event will be Thistly Cross Cider, while west end favourites Crossing the Rubicon have signed up to dish out their tasty fare, and the Vic Bar at the Art School will be serving up their popular dishes too.
The new organisers are keen to point out that more vendors will also be confirmed in the coming days.
The first session will begin on Friday, August 25 from 12pm until 5pm, with vendors giving themselves a quick dust-down before re-starting 6pm till 11pm.
Then on Saturday, they'll do it all over again with two more sessions running with the same hours.
Those who already bought tickets for the event will get in for FREE on the day, with organisers honouring the existing purchase with Hippo Beers.
While anyone else looking to get involved can purchase tickets (the team say there are plenty left) on the day for £9 on a first come first serve basis.
The collective behind the resurrection say there is still factors to be discussed and further details will be released online as and when they are announced.
Posting on Facebook, the Beer Makes Glasgow group wrote: "We're guessing that everyone has heard the unfortunate news about Hippo Beers Ltd and the cancellation of the Great Scottish Beer Celebration.
"The loss of the festival is a huge blow to the Glasgow beer scene & it's not one we're willing to take on the chin, so instead we're going to roll up our sleeves and host our own festival: Beer Makes Glasgow."
