Aldi’s beer buyers have hand-picked 35 beers from some of Scotland’s best small breweries and, for the first time, the Beer Festival will include a Gluten Free option – Lawless Village IPA (£1.99/330ml) from Bellfield Brewery in Edinburgh.

Since the first Aldi Beer Festival took place in 2012, the Scottish breweries involved have received over £1 million from sales. This in-store Beer Festival is expected to be worth in excess of £106,000 to the breweries taking part and will be on shelves at all 67 Aldi stores in Scotland. The festival adds further interest to an already popular award-winning range.

Aldi’s Scottish Beer Festivals give many small breweries their first major retail listing and 75% of the beer selected to feature in this summer’s in-store festival are being stocked by Aldi for the first time. For those with a favourite from previous Beer Festivals, 10 of the best-sellers are returning to shelves while stocks last.

Highlights from this summer’s Aldi Beer Festival include:

· Friendly Fire (£1.49/330ml, 4.3% ABV) from new supplier, Edinbrew in Livingston
· Bonnie’N’Clyde (£1.99/500ml, 4.6% ABV) from Loch Lomond Brewing, available exclusively in Aldi during the Beer Festival
· Blonde Honey Beer (£1.79/330ml, 4.5% ABV) made with Scottish Heather Honey by Beehive Brae in Wishaw
· Will-o'-the-Wisp (£1.99/500ml, 6% ABV) a new beer from Black Metal Brewery in Edinburgh
· Ginja Ninja (£1.49/330ml, 5.2% ABV) from new supplier Fierce Beer based in Aberdeen
· Hefe-Weissbier (£1.89/500ml, 5% ABV) from Burnside Brewery in Laurencekirk, a new supplier to Aldi

Richard Holloway, Managing Director of Aldi in Scotland, said: “Since 2012, we’ve held in-store Scottish Beer Festivals twice a year. This year, for the first time, we’re holding three Festivals in our stores across Scotland to reflect the incredible range of Scottish craft beer on offer, as well as the growing demand from Scottish shoppers.

"It is very important to us at Aldi to give small breweries their first big break, allowing them a platform to showcase their fantastic craft beer. This summer, three out of four beers featured in the Festival have never been sold before at Aldi and we’re looking forward to giving our customers a taste of some delicious new drinks.

“Scotland continues to produce some of the best craft beer on the market and the Beer Festival allows our customers the opportunity to try a wide array of beers that are not all readily available. We are sure this Beer Festival will be a great success for Aldi and the brewers involved.”
