Posting the results on social media site Reddit, Adam said the model took three weeks to design and build, includes stain glass candy windows and even has its own lights.

Adam explained that their decision to use gingerbread was simply down to the time of year, he said: "We started right before Christmas; we also made a gingerbread 'mansion' last year which really brought our skills together as individuals and as a couple, as well as being fun.

"We chose Eilean Donan Castle because it was one of our favorite castles and tours we went on in Scotland; being able to go into so many nooks and crannies as well as see all the pieces of history within the castle was truly magical, as is the location."
