Gregg Wallace reveals his top five Scottish Foods

Masterchef presenter Gregg Wallace returns to Scotland this month with the Ideal Home Show, so we took the chance to find out what some of his favourite Scottish foods are.

Gregg Wallace will be bringing his very own restaurant to this year's Ideal Home Show Scotland, which is returning to the SECC, Glasgow for the 6th year, on May 27th.

The restaurant will give attendees the chance to engage in some fine dining, offering an exciting new menu of tasty delights to break up their busy shopping schedule.

Designed by Gregg, the lunch menu provides the perfect excuse to sit down, relax and enjoy a delicious three-course lunch or Afternoon Tea.

With the biggest event yet, the Ideal Home Show should have lots in store for all of you looking to improve your home and gain that spark of inspiration you need to generate new ideas.

The show will be back with more exciting show features, celebrity ambassadors, over 400 exhibitors, top expert advice and fun for everyone - providing the perfect, all rounded shopping experience for each area of your home.

In advance of the show we caught up with Gregg to find out from him what his top five favourite Scottish products are:

Raspberries

Scotland has been leading the way, of late, in the production of outstanding soft fruits with regions like Fife, Angus and Perthshire producing some of the best the UK has to offer.

Gregg says: "As a passionate Englishmen, it almost hurts me to say Scotland has the best raspberries in the world but they really amazing."

It might seem an obvious choice, but what might not be as obvious is Gregg's reason for choosing it - it excels as an ingredient.

Gregg says: "A nip into cream or custard brings such warmth and depth to a dessert."

Scotch Beef

Renowned for the quality of our beef it's no surprise to find Scotch Beef on Gregg's list.

Gregg says: "Aged and cooked pink, who doesn't love Scotch Beef."

Scotch Lamb is another excellent and versatile meat and it seems Gregg is a huge fan.

Gregg says: "Incredible meat, my absolute favourite.  The standard of welfare and the PGI promise that comes with Scotch Lamb is splendid."

One of Scotland's most popular exports with huge quantities being shipped around the world annually.

Gregg says: "I first tasted them from the talented hands of Tom Kitchin.  Two of Scotland's finest products."
