Deliveroo has seen its hyper-local approach to food delivery service thrive in areas with high population density and quality restaurants, making Corstorphine, Murrayfield and Gorgie an ideal new zone for the service.

The launch means the hungry residents of Corstorphine, Murrayfield and Gorgie can now get food from their favourite local restaurants, including Sushiya, Mimi's Bakehouse and wagamama, delivered to their door in 30 minutes for a £2.50 extra delivery fee. To order, all they need to do is type their postcode into Deliveroo’s website, iPhone app, or Android app.

This expansion will create jobs for a number of drivers in the city over the next year, and will bring significant increased revenues to partner restaurants - for example, Deliveroo say many Edinburgh partner restaurants have reported an increase of up to 30 per cent in revenues.

Launched in 2013, Deliveroo say they are focused on providing the ultimate food delivery experience. Customers are able to order meals from a variety of leading local, independent and high-quality chain restaurants, conveniently delivered to their homes and offices in an average of 32 minutes. Restaurants can take advantage of Deliveroo’s proprietary end-to-end technology and logistics platform to offer delivery for the first time without the hassle of running their own fleet of drivers.

Caroline Hazlehurst, General Manager of Deliveroo, said: “We’ve seen a big appetite for Deliveroo in Edinburgh so far – we’re excited to be working with even more great restaurants in the area, and to be serving the hungry people of Corstorphine, Murrayfield and Gorgie. Busy consumers will now be able to enjoy high-quality meals at home or in the office, delivered consistently and quickly, whether it’s burgers, ramen, or pasta.”

Deliveroo has already seen impressive growth in the UK. The service has had a 25 per cent month-on-month growth since inception, while daily orders have grown tenfold since January 2015.

Hazlehurst continues: “Expanding our operation in Edinburgh is a natural next step in our mission to offer the highest quality food delivery service in the UK. In the 55 towns and cities we currently operate in the UK & Ireland, we have an enthusiastic base of repeat customers, and we’re looking forward to meeting new food lovers in Corstorphine, Murrayfield and Gorgie.”
