Stonegate Pub Company, the pub chain whose portfolio includes Yates and Slug and Lettuce, has bought 15 Maclay Group bars it was announced yesterday. After Maclay filed for administration in January 2015, there has been much discussion of the certainty of the pub chain’s future following the sudden news.

This marks the Stonegate Pub Company’s first acquisition since they sold off numerous sites over the past two years.

The Alloa-based Maclay Group owned 15 bars and managed several others across Scotland. These include The Southsider in Edinburgh, The Three Judges in Glasgow and The Tullie Inn in Balloch all of which have now been acquired by the Stonegate Pub Company.

Stonegate have not revealed what they paid for the venues but reports indicate that the deal will be finalised come late July 2015. The 15 pubs were marketed by CDHD who have worked closely with administrators and the entire chain was set at a guide price of £11.7 million.
